Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : A mother asks, saying: O honorable Shaykh, I have a young man who is sixteen years old. He stays up late at night during Ramadan playing football, and then he sleeps through the Fajr prayer.

The Shaykh : There is no power and no strength except with Allah.

The questioner : I try to wake him up for the prayer, but to no avail. Sometimes I get angry at him, and perhaps I even curse him. The same happens with the 'Asr prayer. She asks your eminence whether she is sinful if she wakes him and he does not wake up, or if she leaves him alone. We ask for advice and guidance for her and for this young man.

The Shaykh : As for this woman, it is obligatory for her to wake him up for the Fajr prayer and the 'Asr prayer, because the sleeper does not know about the time, whereas the one who is awake knows about it. It is obligatory to cooperate in righteousness and piety. However, if she is unable to wake him, the sin is upon him, and there is no sin upon her. As for the young man, my advice to him is to fear Allah (Mighty and Majestic) in his youth, and to perform what is obligatory upon him, which is the Fajr prayer in congregation, and then to sleep afterwards. The same applies to the 'Asr prayer.
And it is strange that Satan strives to discourage people from the Fajr prayer and the 'Asr prayer, because these two prayers are the best of the prayers. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
He who observed two prayers at two cool (hours) would enter Paradise.
Sahih Muslim 635a
And what are the two cool ones? The Fajr prayer and the 'Asr prayer. And the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
you shall see your Lord as you see the moon on the night of a full moon
Jami` at-Tirmidhi 2554Sahih (Darussalam)
meaning a true vision with the eye, but it is not similar to the moon, because there is nothing like Allah. However, the comparison here is a comparison of the vision to the vision, meaning that it is a true vision with the eye; you see Allah
you shall see your Lord as you see the moon on the night of a full moon, you shall not crowd one another to see Him
Jami` at-Tirmidhi 2554Sahih (Darussalam)
This is the evidence
So if you can not be overcome by the prayer before the rising of the sun and before its setting, then do so.
As-Sunan al-Kubra lil-Nasa'i 2:153
And what is the prayer before the rising of the sun? Fajr. And the prayer before its setting is 'Asr. Allah the Exalted said:
and exalt [Allah] with praise of your Lord before the rising of the sun and before its setting,
[Qaf 50:39]
So Satan plays with some people; now they are negligent regarding the Fajr prayer and the 'Asr prayer, and they are the best of the five prayers. Yes.

The questioner : ... .

The Shaykh : And as for cursing him, do not curse him, because if she curses him, it will only increase him in evil. But instead of cursing him, she should supplicate to Allah for him, saying: O Allah, guide him. O Allah, guide you. Fear your Lord. Fear Allah. Yes.
