Refuting Those Who Deny Wisdom in Its Entirety and Explaining Their Doubt Therein

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : Among those who deny wisdom are some of the innovators who rejected wisdom and said that wisdom is a purpose, and that Allah, Glorified and Exalted is He, is free from purposes. If you say that He did such a thing for such a reason, it means He did it for a purpose, and Allah is free from purposes. It is obligatory to believe that Allah did this thing or legislated this thing merely by His will, preferring one thing over another without a cause, obligating this without a cause, and forbidding this without a cause. It is not permissible to say that Allah forbade such a thing for such a reason. Do you understand? Why? They said that this is a deficiency, that Allah doing a thing for the sake of a thing is a deficiency. Say that Allah does what He wills merely by His will. But the truth is that this statement is false, because it is refuted by many verses and texts. Everything containing the preposition of causation (lam al-ta'wil) indicates wisdom, and everything containing "for the sake of" (min ajl) indicates wisdom.
For that reason, We decreed for the Children of Israel
Two should not converse to the exclusion of another until they are mixing with people since that would distress him.
Al-Adab Al-Mufrad 1171
and so on. Then we ask: Which is more perfect, one who acts without benefit or one who acts for benefit? The second. The first is folly. The first is folly. So their claim that this is a deficiency is a false claim. Rather, we say that this is perfection, and that He, Mighty and Majestic, legislating or creating for a wisdom is the ultimate perfection. Allah, Mighty and Majestic, says:
And We did not create the heaven and the earth and that between them aimlessly. That is the assumption of those who disbelieve, so woe to those who disbelieve from the Fire.
[Sad 38:27]
And We did not create the heavens and earth and that between them in play.
[Ad-Dukhan 44:38]
Does man think that he will be left neglected?
[Al-Qiyamah 75:36]
Then did you think that We created you uselessly
[Al-Mu'minun 23:115]
And there are many verses in this regard. Even reason indicates the establishment of wisdom for Allah, Mighty and Majestic.
