And He is the Most Forbearing, so He does not hasten to punish His servant *** with a punishment so that he may repent from his disobedience (A discussion of the name of Allah, al-Haleem, and the attribute of forbearance, and an explanation of its meaning)

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : Good, then the author said: "And He is the Most Forbearing, so He does not hasten to punish His servant *** with a punishment so that he may repent from his disobedience"
O Allah, to You is praise. He is also the Most Forbearing. Forbearance is the expansiveness of the soul and not hastening with punishment. This is why people say of a ruler who does not hasten with punishment, "So-and-so is forbearing, of broad forbearance." Allah (Mighty and Majestic) is forbearing; He does not hasten to punish the servant so that perhaps he may repent to Him. If he repents to Him, the evil deed is erased. If he repents to Him, the evil deed is erased. Indeed, if a person does a righteous deed from those that expiate sins, such as prayer, the evil deed is erased. This is from the forbearance of Allah (Mighty and Majestic).
