Reading from the commentary on the poet's statement: "But, by Allah, its knots are tight"

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The student: "The poet began by explaining the harms that have occurred".

The Shaykh : No, no, it is not.
The student: "He mentioned that it dealt with... and included restricting the absolute and generalizing the restricted, specifying the general and generalizing the specific, separating what the texts united and uniting what they separated, tightening what they widened and vice versa, and making lawful what they forbade".

The Shaykh : No, no, it is not.
The student: ...

The Shaykh : And the sieve?
The student: He says: "By Allah, if it were not for what they resorted to, which caused deviation and misguidance by establishing the rules, restrictions, and schools of thought upon which they built, you would have found the knots of faith and its foundations to be wide, with no difficulty or complexity in them. But these people tightened its knots by what they innovated in principles and terminology, thereby nullifying many texts from the Book and the Sunnah, even though they are of the utmost clarity and explanation".

The Shaykh : What is its explanation? In any case, it is known that when knots are tight, they require effort to untie, unlike when they are loose. Right now, if you tie a knot, if it is loose, it is easy for you to untie it, but if you tighten it, the untying becomes difficult.
