(The reality of the defect is contradicting the text, not contradicting opinions) or what you know: that the enemies of the Mess***enger (peace and blessings be upon him) criticized the successors with slander regarding their elders and what their predecessors had passed through in former times

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : The author (may Allah have mercy on him) says:
"Or what you know: that the enemies of the Messenger *** (peace and blessings be upon him) criticized the successors with slander
Regarding their elders"

He means: that the enemies of the Messenger criticized the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) regarding the successors of their elders, but is this criticism truth or slander? It is slander. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) is not to be criticized for contradicting their elders in the oneness of Allah (Mighty and Majestic). They say, "This contradicts our fathers, he mocked their minds, he led our youth astray," and the like of that. They are the ones who are defective. Yes.
"Regarding their elders and what their predecessors had passed through *** in former times" What is the defect? The author (may Allah have mercy on him) says:
"The defect is only in contradicting the text *** not the opinion of men or the ideas of minds"
The defect is what involves contradicting the text, what is contrary to the text. That is, the reality of the defect is contradicting the text, not contradicting opinions.
"You criticize us for this, and it is *** from our success, and the favor is for the bestower"
(May Allah have mercy on him) he spoke the truth. The fact that they criticize us for taking the text as our guide—we see that this is from success and the favor of the bestower.
