Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : She says that she is a married woman who has given birth to a son and then became pregnant immediately afterward. Now she wants to rest after the second child because she suffered from anemia in the first and second. Is it permissible for her to use birth control pills or an IUD, knowing that her husband forbids her from using any contraceptive? I ask for advice for him, perhaps he will benefit from the advice. May we be rewarded.

The Shaykh : There is no doubt that frequent childbirth increases the strength of the Muslim community and achieves the desire of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), where he said:
Marry the loving and fertile women تزوجوا الودود الولود
Also, there is no doubt that when a woman becomes pregnant, weakness befalls her, as Allah the Exalted said:
And We have enjoined upon man [care] for his parents. His mother carried him, [increasing her] in weakness upon weakness وَوَصَّيْنَا الإِنسَانَ بِوَالِدَيْهِ حَمَلَتْهُ أُمُّهُ وَهْنًا عَلَى وَهْنٍ
[Luqman 31:14]
.
Also, there is no doubt that when a woman becomes pregnant, she carries the child with reluctance and gives birth to it with reluctance, as Allah the Exalted said:
And We have enjoined upon man, to his parents, good treatment. His mother carried him with hardship and gave birth to him with hardship وَوَصَّيْنَا الإِنسَانَ بِوَالِدَيْهِ إِحْسَانًا حَمَلَتْهُ أُمُّهُ كُرْهًا وَوَضَعَتْهُ كُرْهًا
[Al-Ahqaf 46:15]
.
Also, there is no doubt that when a woman becomes pregnant, fatigue and exhaustion befall her. If this is a familiar and customary matter, then the woman should not complain about it or try to escape it by using what prevents pregnancy. Rather, she must be patient and seek reward from Allah. If she is patient and seeks reward from Allah and does not submit to the weakness that befalls her, then Allah the Exalted will strengthen her for what she carries and help her until this pregnancy becomes light for her.
Yes, if it is assumed that there are unusual, non-customary matters that befall the woman during pregnancy, then the matter is looked into. What the questioner mentioned about suffering from anemia is a natural matter, because when a woman becomes pregnant, a large part of her blood is directed to the pregnancy. However, if the anemia that befell her is beyond the customary and she cannot be safe from it by taking tonics, then in this case, her husband should consider her situation and grant her permission to use what prevents pregnancy.
But I warn her and other women against using medications and pills, because these are harmful in the long term. A doctor I trust told me that they are a cause of uterine damage, fetal deformity, and other matters related to the blood and nerves. However, there are means of protection from pregnancy other than these pills. As for taking these pills and medications, I strongly advise against them.
In summary, the answer is that it is obligatory for the woman to be patient with the weakness, fatigue, and exhaustion that befall her during pregnancy. She has a reward with Allah Mighty and Majestic for that, and expiation for her sins. And it is obligatory for the husband, if he sees that the woman is affected in an unusual way during her pregnancy, to permit her to use what prevents pregnancy, or for him himself to use what prevents pregnancy, out of compassion and mercy for her, until she becomes active and strong enough for that.

The questioner : May Allah reward you, O honorable Shaykh, and may Allah bless you and your knowledge.
