Ruling on delaying the expiation for an oath.

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : Shaykh, regarding the expiation for an oath, if a person is obligated to expiate his oath but he does not have the money available, for example, I am an employee waiting for my salary to arrive, is it permissible to delay it until, for example, the salary comes, knowing that one knows that death is a reality that comes suddenly? I mean, but is it permissible to delay it, and is there sin in delaying it?

The Shaykh : The answer to this issue is similar to the answer to dozens of issues that fall under the saying of Allah the Exalted:
So fear Allah as much as you are able فاتقوا الله ما استطعتم
[At-Taghabun 64:16]
So, if a person swears, for example, not to speak to so-and-so, and then he sees, as he (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
Whoever swears an oath, then sees something better than it, let him do that which is better and offer expiation for his oath. من حلف على يمين ثم رأى غيرها خيرا منها فليأت هو الذي هو خير وليكفر عن يمينه
Sunan an-Nasa'i 3785Sahih (Darussalam)
So he spoke to the man. The mere fact that he spoke to the man makes the expiation obligatory upon him. Here comes the saying: "The best of good is that which is hastened." So if you are able, that is what is obligatory for you. If you are not able, then look to what is easy, meaning there is no strictness in the matter, as long as the issue, like its sister issues, falls under the generality of
So fear Allah as much as you are able فاتقوا الله ما استطعتم
[At-Taghabun 64:16]
So when you are able, you must expiate.
