The Story of Abu Hurayrah with the Shaytan Regarding the Alms of Breaking the Fast
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : And indeed, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) would accept the truth and confirm it and establish it, even if it came from the most disbelieving of Allah's creations.
Here are two stories I will tell you. Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) was the custodian of the alms of Ramadan. One night, the Shaytan came in the form of a man and took some dates. Abu Hurayrah caught him and said: "I will surely bring you to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)". The Shaytan said to him that he was poor and had a family, and asked him to forgive him, saying he would not return. He said, "I will not return." When Abu Hurayrah woke up and went to the Messenger (may peace and blessings be upon him), he said to him:Sahih al-Bukhari 2311 Allah informed him of that meaning what? He lied to you. He informed you of a lie. Abu Hurayrah said, Is this the second time, or the third?
The student: The second.
The Shaykh : The third night. It is known that the Shaytan cannot be brought to the Messenger. If 'Umar ibn al-Khattab, when he took a path, the Shaytan would take another path, what do you say about the Messenger (may peace and blessings be upon him)? , Glory be to Allah. [Al-Baqarah 2:255] It is the greatest verse in the Book of Allah. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) asked Ubayy ibn Ka'b, and he said to him: .
Now, when Abu Hurayrah went to the Messenger (may peace and blessings be upon him) for the third time, he said: What did the Messenger say? He said: It is possible for truth to come from a liar. He said: So the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) confirmed the truth, and it came from whom?
The student: From the Shaytan.
The Shaykh: From the Shaytan. It came from the Shaytan. This is one.
And a scholar from the Jews, and a scholar of the Jews means a scholar from the Jews, came to the Messenger (may peace and blessings be upon him) and said: And he mentioned the rest of the hadith. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) laughed, confirming his statement, until his molar teeth were visible. Then he recited: “And they did not estimate Allah as He should be estimated, and the earth, all of it, is in His grasp on the Day of Resurrection, and the heavens will be rolled up in His right hand. Exalted is He and Glorified above what they associate with Him.” So did the Messenger (may peace and blessings be upon him) confirm the truth that the Jew said, or not? He confirmed it. So if the truth comes to you from any person, accept it, because this is justice. And if the error and falsehood come from a person, reject it, no matter who the person is.
And on this basis, the fact that Ibn al-Jawzi engages in figurative interpretation of the verses of attributes and falls into this error, as many scholars have fallen into it, does not make us forget the merit he has regarding his other writings from which people have benefited. Yes.

What did your prisoner do yesterday?
He said, "O Messenger of Allah, he complained to me about his condition and claimed that he has a family." He said, "He lied to you and he will return."
He lied to you
So I knew that he would return because of the saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) that he would return. So he returned, and I caught him. He complained to me about his condition, so I released him. When I went to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), he said, "What did your prisoner do?" He said, "He complained about his condition and claimed he has a family, so I released him." He said, "He lied to you and he will return."
The student: The second.
The Shaykh : The third night.
So he returned and I caught him. He said that his condition was bad and that he had a family. I said, "I will not release you this time until I hand you over to the Messenger (may peace and blessings be upon him)."
He said, "Shall I not direct you to something that will protect you from me?" He said, "Yes." He said, "The Verse of the Throne. If you recite the Verse of the Throne in a night, a guardian from Allah will remain with you, and no Shaytan will approach you until you become morning."
Allah - there is no deity except Him, the Ever-Living, the Sustainer of [all] existence. Neither drowsiness overtakes Him nor sleep. To Him belongs whatever is in the heavens and whatever is on the earth. Who is it that can intercede with Him except by His permission? He knows what is [presently] before them and what will be after them, and they encompass not a thing of His knowledge except for what He wills. His Kursi extends over the heavens and the earth, and their preservation tires Him not. And He is the Most High, the Most Great.
Which verse is the greatest in the Book of Allah? He said, "The Verse of the Throne." So he struck his chest and said, "May knowledge be a joy for you, O Abu al-Mundhir."
Now, when Abu Hurayrah went to the Messenger (may peace and blessings be upon him) for the third time, he said:
What did your prisoner do last night? He said, "O Messenger of Allah, he said -such and such-." He said, "A verse in the Book of Allah; if you recite it, a guardian from Allah will remain with you, and no Shaytan will approach you until you become morning."
