The reader: In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
Praise be to Allah, Lord of the worlds, and may peace and blessings be upon our Prophet Muhammad, and upon his family and all his Companions:
The author (may Allah have mercy on him) transmitted, in the context of the hadiths in the chapter on encouraging the recitation of specific surahs and verses: “From Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him), who said: وكَّلني رسولُ الله صلى الله عليه وسلم بحفظ زكاة رمضان ، فأتاني آتٍ فجعل يحثو مِن الطعام ، فأخذته فقلت : لأرفعنَّك إلى رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم ، قال : إني مُحتاج وعليَّ عيال، وبي حاجة شديدة ، فخليت عنه ، فأصبحت ، فقال رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم : يا أبا هريرة ، ما فعل أسيرك البارحة ؟
The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) entrusted me with the guarding of the zakat of Ramadan, so a person came to me and began scooping up food, so I seized him and said: “I will surely bring you to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him).” He said: “I am in need and I have dependents, and I have a severe need.” So I let him go. When morning came, the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: “O Abu Hurayrah, what did your prisoner do last night?” I said: “O Messenger of Allah, he complained of need and dependents, so I had mercy on him and let him go.” He said: “He has lied to you and he will return.” So I knew that he would return because of the saying of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), so I kept watch for him. He came scooping up food, so I said: “I will surely bring you to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him).” He said: “Let me go, for I am in need and I have dependents, and I will not return.” So I had mercy on him and let him go. When morning came, the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said to me: “O Abu Hurayrah, what did your prisoner do last night?” I said: “O Messenger of Allah, he complained of need and dependents, so I had mercy on him and let him go.” He said: “He has lied to you and he will return.” So I kept watch for him the third time. He came scooping up food, so I seized him and said: “I will surely bring you to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), and this is the third time that you claim you will not return.” He said: “Let me go, for I will teach you words by which Allah will benefit you.” I said: “What are they?” He said: “When you go to your bed, recite the Verse of the Throne, for there will remain over you a protector from Allah, and no devil will approach you until you rise.” So I let him go. When morning came, the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said to me: “What did your prisoner do last night?” I said: “O Messenger of Allah! He claimed that he would teach me words by which Allah would benefit me, so I let him go.” He said: “What are they?” I said: “He said to me: When you go to your bed, recite the Verse of the Throne from its beginning until you complete the verse: ‘Allah, there is no deity except Him, the Ever-Living, the Sustainer.’ And he said to me: There will remain over you a protector from Allah, and no devil will approach you until you rise.” The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: “He has told you the truth, and he is a liar. Do you know whom you have been speaking to for three days, O Abu Hurayrah?” I said: “No.” He said: “That is a devil.”

The Shaykh : In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful:
We are still in the chapter that al-Nawawi (may Allah have mercy on him) established in *Riyad al-Saliheen*: encouraging the recitation of specific surahs and verses from the Book of Allah (Mighty and Majestic):
And in the hadith of Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) which we read previously and repeated so that whoever Allah wills to memorize it may do so, because it contains lessons, benefits, and rulings. We have explained the Verse of the Throne and clarified why it is the greatest verse in the Book of Allah. This hadith shows that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) entrusted Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) with the charity of fitr. The charity of fitr is that which is given out of food at the end of the month of Ramadan, one day, two days, or three days before the breaking of the fast. This charity must be from food, meaning from what people eat: from dates, barley, rice, or others. It is not valid from anything else that people eat. For example, if a person gives five or six clothes to the poor instead of a sa' of barley, it is not sufficient. It must be from food.
The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) entrusted Abu Hurayrah with the charity of fitr. One day, a person came to this charity, disguised, meaning appearing in the form of a human being. He took from the charity without permission, and without Abu Hurayrah giving him anything. So Abu Hurayrah seized him and said:
I will take you to Allah's Messenger (ﷺ)
Sahih al-Bukhari 2311
. This person was afraid and claimed that he had a family and was in need. So Abu Hurayrah had mercy on him and released him. When morning came and he went to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him and his family), revelation had come to him from Allah (Mighty and Majestic) regarding this story. So he said to him, meaning to Abu Hurayrah:
What did your prisoner do yesterday?
Sahih al-Bukhari 2311
, meaning the one you seized. He said:
O Messenger of Allah, he claimed that he was in need and had dependents, so I had mercy on him and released him. He said: He has lied to you and he will return.
, meaning: He lied to you and he will return. He said:
So I knew that this person would return because of the saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), so I kept watch for him.
, meaning: Keep watch for him on the second night. So he came and did as he did on the first night and excused himself with the same excuse as the first night, that he had dependents and was in need. So Abu Hurayrah had mercy on him the second time and released him. Then he informed the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) of that, and he said:
He has lied to you and he will return.
. This time, what? The third time. So he returned the third time, but Abu Hurayrah seized him and said: I must take you to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him). He said: I will teach you words by which Allah will benefit you. He said: What are they? He said: The Verse of the Throne: "Allah, there is no deity except Him, the Ever-Living, the Sustainer," to the end of it. So he released him., and he did not take anything from the food,
When morning came, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said to him: What did your captive do last night? He said: O Messenger of Allah, he said: I will teach you words by which Allah will benefit you.
