What is the ruling on fasting after the middle of Sha'ban?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : The questioner is asking about fasting after the middle of Sha'ban, O Shaykh.

The Shaykh : This person is asking about fasting after the middle of Sha'ban. The compilers of the Sunan collections have reported that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
When it is the middle of Sha'ban do not fast إذا انتصف شعبان فلا تصوموا
Bulugh al-Maram 5:42
However, Imam Ahmad (may Allah have mercy on him), the Imam of the people of the Sunnah, said that this hadith is anomalous; this hadith is anomalous and is not acted upon. First, because the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) used to fast for most of Sha'ban. Second, because he said:
Do not observe fast for a day, or two days ahead of Ramadan لا تقدموا رمضان بصوم يوم ولا يومين
Sahih Muslim 1082a
This indicates the permissibility of advancing it by how much? By more than one or two days. The correct view is that there is no prohibition regarding that, meaning regarding fasting after the middle of Sha'ban. The prohibition is only regarding advancing Ramadan by fasting one or two days. However, it remains for us to ask: Is fasting on the fifteenth of Sha'ban alone part of the Sunnah? We say: Hadiths have been reported regarding it. Hadiths have been reported regarding the virtue of the night of the middle of Sha'ban, and regarding the virtue of standing in prayer on the night of the middle of Sha'ban, and regarding the virtue of fasting on the day of the middle of Sha'ban. But these are hadiths that most scholars have deemed weak. And you know that worship is a matter of religion; if it is not established by a scriptural proof by which a person meets his Lord on the Day of Resurrection, then it is not acted upon. And as long as the hadiths regarding this are weak, there is no action based on them. But if one fasts the white days in Sha'ban, just as he fasts the white days in other months, then there is nothing wrong with that and no blame on him. Likewise, if one fasts more in Sha'ban than in other months, there is nothing wrong with that, because the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) used to fast more in Sha'ban than in other months. Yes.

The questioner : May Allah reward you with good. The questioner says: O Shaykh, if it coincides...
