What is the ruling on fasting in the second half of Sha'ban?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : The conclusion is that it is not permissible to begin fasting from the middle of Sha'ban. As for the one who begins fasting from the beginning of the month, its ruling is as I told you last time. In other words, be patient with me, just as many people do today. They do not fast in Sha'ban except for the second half, and that is not prescribed. But if, for example, a person starts fasting from the beginning of Sha'ban, every day, or for example one day, or two days, or Thursday, and so on, and the middle of Sha'ban arrives, and it is his turn to fast, there is no objection. He continues with his turn until one or two days before Ramadan, so that he can be energetic for the fasting of Ramadan.

The questioner : ... .

The Shaykh : Yes, but this is not intended in its apparent meaning, because its details came in another hadith:
He used to fast all of Sha’ban; he used to fast all of Sha’ban except a little. كان يصوم شعبان كلَّه ، كان يصوم شعبان إلا قليلًا
Sunan Ibn Majah 1710Sahih (Darussalam)
Except for a little. إلا قليلًا
. Then there is another hadith that says:
Do not observe fast for a day, or two days ahead of Ramadan لا تقدِّموا رمضان بصوم يوم أو يومين
Sahih Muslim 1082a
. That is to say, if we assume that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) fasted the entire month just as he fasted Ramadan, but he said:
Do not anticipate Ramadan by fasting one or two days. لا تتقدَّموا رمضان بصيام يوم أو يومين
Sahih Ibn Hibban 14:171
. Do you understand?

The questioner : ... .

The Shaykh : That means, do not fast on the twenty-ninth and thirtieth days of Sha'ban.

The questioner : ... .

The Shaykh : May Allah preserve you, and again.

The questioner : ... .

The Shaykh: And upon you peace.
