The Meaning of the Saying of Allah the Exalted: "So give the disbelievers respite; give them respite for a little while."

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh :
So allow time for the disbelievers. Leave them awhile. فمهل الكافرين أمهلهم رويدا
[At-Tariq 86:17]
"Muhil" means wait, wait for them.
Give them respite for a little while أمهلهم رويدا
"Amhilhum rawida" means a short time until they are taken. Praise be to Allah, it did not last but a short period. After the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) left Mecca fearing for his life, after eight years he returned to it victorious and triumphant, with the authority over Quraysh in his hand. The historians mentioned that when the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) entered Mecca, he said:
he who enters the mosque is safe من دخل المسجد فهو آمن
Sunan Abi Dawud 3022Hasan (Al-Albani)
"See if they will believe. They used to frighten him before, but now he is the one who frightens them."
Whoever enters the mosque is safe, and whoever enters his house is safe, and whoever enters the house of Abu Sufyan is safe من دخل المسجد فهو آمن ومن دخل بيته فهو آمن ومن دخل دار أبي سفيان فهو آمن
Then, when the matter was concluded, he stood at the door of the Ka'bah, and Quraysh were beneath him, waiting to see what he would do, for he was the conqueror. What would he do? What did he do, may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him? He did the deed of the forbearing and the merciful. He said to them:
O people of Quraysh, what do you think I will do with you? They said: A noble brother and the son of a noble brother. He said: I say to you what Yusuf said to his brothers: "No blame shall be on you this day; Allah will forgive you, and He is the Most Merciful of the merciful. Go, for you are released."
This is forbearance with power. Now, the adhan is called.
The student: Is there more?

The Shaykh : There is more. Now, this is forbearance with power. So look at the scheme of these people and the scheme of the Lord (Mighty and Majestic); which is greater? The scheme of Allah, my brothers, the scheme of Allah is greater.
