Exegesis of the saying of Allah the Exalted: "We make no distinction between any of His messengers."

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh :
We make no distinction between any of His messengers لا نُفَرِّقُ بَيْنَ أَحَدٍ مِنْ رُسُلِهِ
[Al-Baqarah 2:285]
By what do we make no distinction?
By affirmation and faith. We believe that they are messengers from Allah, the truth, and we believe in the authentic reports from them. As for the rulings, our Shari'ah abrogates all previous Shari'ahs, as Allah the Exalted said:
And We have revealed to you, [O Muhammad], the Book in truth, confirming that which preceded it of the Scripture and as a criterion over it
[Al-Ma'idah 5:48]
It has authority over all the books. If a ruling in the Torah or the Gospel is authentic beyond doubt but contradicts what is in the Qur'an, the criterion is what is in the Qur'an. This is with regard to rulings. As for the reports, they are not abrogated, and every authentic report from the previous books is true. However, you know that Allah the Exalted did not guarantee the preservation of the previous books; rather, He said:
by that with which they were entrusted of the Scripture of Allah بِمَا اسْتُحْفِظُوا مِنْ كِتَابِ اللَّهِ
[Al-Ma'idah 5:44]
So He entrusted their preservation to those to whom they were revealed. But they did not preserve them; rather, they distorted, altered, and changed them. So the first of the books is the Qur'an, and the first of the messengers is Noah, and the last is Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon them all).
