Exegesis of the saying of Allah the Exalted: "Our Lord, do not hold us accountable if we forget or make a mistake," and this is a rule regarding prohibitions, with examples.

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : The prohibitions come:
Our Lord, do not impose blame upon us if we have forgotten or erred. رَبَّنَا لا تُؤَاخِذْنَا إِنْ نَسِينَا أَوْ أَخْطَأْنَا
[Al-Baqarah 2:286]
What did our Lord, (Exalted and Majestic is He), say?
Allah said: I have done it. قال الله : قد فعلت
It means: I will not hold you accountable if you forget or make a mistake. This applies to prohibitions. This is the second phrase regarding prohibitions. If a person commits a sin while forgetting, or commits a sin by mistake without knowing it is forbidden, he owes nothing, as if he had not done it.
- Pay attention, young man, O owner of... - Now, let us give examples of this: A man is praying. Does the one who prays speak or not? He does not speak at all, except with Allah, because the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
When one of you prays, he is conversing with his Lord. إذا صلى أحدكم فإنه يناجي ربه
You say:
[All] praise is [due] to Allah, Lord of the worlds - الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ رَبِّ الْعَالَمِينَ
[Al-Fatihah 1:2]
And Allah says: My servant praised Me.
