What is the ruling on naming a fetus, whether male or female, if it is completed, and is an 'Aqiqah sacrificed for it?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : May Allah reward you with good. A questioner says: O Shaykh, regarding the fetus, if it completes the period, is it named before the week? That is, is it named and is an 'Aqiqah sacrificed for it?

The Shaykh : Yes, naming is prescribed. May Allah bless you. If a person has prepared a name, it is recommended for a person to choose a good name for his children, as a kindness to the child, and because the child will be called by this name on the Day of Resurrection; he will be called by his name. So choose a good name for him, and beware of newly invented names whose meanings we may not know. What are the most beloved names to Allah? 'Abdullah and 'Abd al-Rahman. These are the most beloved names to Allah. I do not seek a name other than one that Allah the Mighty and Majestic loves. A person knows that Allah loves the names 'Abdullah and 'Abd al-Rahman, yet he turns away from them? I would not do that, because Allah loves them.
So what is the first thing we name our sons? 'Abdullah, then 'Abd al-Rahman, because these are the most beloved names to Allah. Likewise, the names of daughters that contain strange things, like "fruits of pairs," meaning strange things. They name daughters with strange names. How did these come to them? "Afnan" (branches), "Aghsan" (branches), "Jinan" (gardens), "Hanan" (tenderness), and "Hatt" (take), O Glorified is Allah. The names have become so limited that they started naming them "Malak" (angel) and "Malik" (king)
And they made the angels, who are the servants of the Most Merciful, female.
Al-Mustadrak lil-Hakim 25:799
, there is no god but Allah. The names have been lost. Where is Zaynab? Where is 'A'ishah? Where is Fatimah? Where is Asma'? Where is Hind? Where, where? So a person should choose a name and choose the best names, and he should consult with the mother of the child, because this is part of good companionship, and because the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
The best of you is the one who is best to his wife, and I am the best of you to my wives.
Sunan Ibn Majah 1977Hasan (Darussalam)
Good. So if the mother says, "I want such and such," and the husband says, "I want such and such," what is to be done?
We say: If we want to follow the legal ruling, the name belongs to the father; he is the one who names.
But if we want good companionship and reconciliation, then it is by lot
And you were not with them when they cast their pens as to which of them should be responsible for Mary
[Ali 'Imran 3:44]
. The drawing of lots is mentioned in the Qur'an twice. This is one instance, and the second is the story of Yunus (Jonah)
And he drew lots and was among the losers.
[As-Saffat 37:141]
. This is what pleases the soul and increases affection between the husband and wife. It is by lot, but he must not deceive her in the drawing of lots. Yes, he asks a third person to perform the drawing of lots. For example, he writes the name he wants on one piece of paper and the name the mother of the child wants on another piece of paper, then gives them to another person who is distant. He says, "Take these and give each of us a paper." Then, if he gives the mother the paper with the name she wants, it works; he goes ahead.
I say, May Allah bless you, if the name is prepared, when is it done? At the time of birth. From the day he is born, name him. The evidence for this is that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) came to his family and said to them:
A son was born to me tonight and I named him Ibrahim.
Ibrahim (may Allah be pleased with him), the son of the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him), remained for about sixteen months, then he died. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) began to weep, and the child was in his death throes, so he (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
The eyes are shedding tears and the heart is grieved, and we will not say except what pleases our Lord, O Ibrahim ! Indeed we are grieved by your separation.
Sahih al-Bukhari 1303
And he informed that he has a nurse in Paradise because he died before being weaned (may Allah be pleased with him). The important point is: if the name is prepared in advance, when do we name him? At the time of birth. But if it is not prepared, name him on the seventh day. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
Every boy is pawned against his 'Aqiqah, to be slaughtered on his behalf on the seventh day of his birth, his head is to be shaved, and he must be given a name.
Bulugh al-Maram 12:44
Yes.

The questioner : May Allah reward you with good.
