The Shaykh : Praise be to Allah, Lord of the worlds, and I send prayers and peace upon our Prophet Muhammad, the Seal of the Prophets and the Imam of the righteous, and upon his family and his Companions, and those who follow them with excellence until the Day of Judgment. As for what follows:
Indeed, on this night, the night of Monday, the twenty-seventh of the month of Jumada al-Thani, in the year 1416, we meet with our brothers in the Prophet's Mosque, the mosque of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him and his family), on the chair of our brother, Shaykh Abu Bakr al-Jaza'iri (may Allah guide him). We meet with you to speak about what Allah has made pleasing to us, regarding the hadith of 'Abdullah ibn Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him), who said: I ask Allah the Exalted to conclude for me and for you with good, and to cause us to die upon faith, and to gather us with those upon whom Allah has bestowed favor, from among the prophets, the truthful ones, the martyrs, and the righteous.
This hadith was introduced by 'Abdullah ibn Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) with his saying: "The truthful one in what he reports, and the one who is believed in what is reported about him." He is truthful, and it is impossible for a lie to occur in his report ever. And he is believed; he was not lied to regarding the message, but rather he was sent with the truth from Allah, Mighty and Majestic. He only introduced this preamble because of what he would report, for he would speak about a matter of the unseen that no one knows except Allah, which is the formation of the fetus in the womb of its mother. The formation of the fetus in the womb of its mother, no one knows its manner except Allah, Mighty and Majestic, and He revealed it to him [Az-Zumar 39:6].

The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) told us, and he is the truthful one who is believed, and he said: "Indeed, the creation of each of you is gathered in the womb of his mother for forty days as a nutfah, then it becomes an 'alaqah for a similar period, then it becomes a mudghah for a similar period. Then the angel is sent to it, and the spirit is breathed into it, and he is commanded—meaning the angel—with four words: to write down his provision, his lifespan, his deed, and whether he will be wretched or happy. By Him besides whom there is no god, indeed a man among you may do the deeds of the people of Paradise until there is nothing between him and it but a cubit, when the decree overtakes him, and he does the deeds of the people of the Fire and enters it. And indeed a man among you may do the deeds of the people of the Fire until there is nothing between him and it but a cubit, when the decree overtakes him, and he does the deeds of the people of Paradise and enters it."
This hadith was introduced by 'Abdullah ibn Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) with his saying:
