Discussion of the saying of Allah the Exalted: "The Day when secrets will be exposed" and the care for purifying the heart

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : Now, the saying of Allah the Exalted:

The Day when secrets will be exposed. What does "exposed" mean? What does "exposed" mean? Please. The student: ... . The Shaykh: What? The student: ... . The Shaykh: What will he say? The student: It is revealed. The Shaykh: It is revealed, but not in that exact wording. It refuses that. What you mentioned is a necessary consequence of it, but it is not the exact meaning. The student: It is tested. The Shaykh: Yes, "exposed" means tested. And from this is the saying of Allah the Exalted: "And We will test you with what?" With evil and good as a trial. Now, "secrets" means the hearts. And here we take a rule, my brothers: "The reckoning on the Day of Resurrection is based on what is in the breasts; the reckoning in this world is based on what is in the limbs." In this world, a person is held accountable and evaluated according to his apparent deeds, and the secrets are left to Allah. In the Hereafter, there is no escape; the criterion is what is in the heart. We ask Allah to make our hearts and your hearts [pure]. The criterion is what is in the heart. Therefore, it is obligatory for us, my brothers, to care for our hearts more than our limbs. How many people are there who prayed next to another person, yet the difference between them in virtue, reward, and rank with Allah is like the distance between the sky and the earth! Based on what? On what is in the hearts. Therefore, purify your hearts. Purify your hearts from shirk (associating partners with Allah), from doubt, from hypocrisy, from hatred and resentment toward the Muslims, and from other things from which the heart must be purified, because the criterion on the Day of Resurrection is what is in the hearts.
