The steadfastness of Abu Bakr in executing the army of Usamah for the expedition against the Romans.

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : The third issue is regarding the execution of the army of Usamah ibn Zayd. It is known that his father, Zayd ibn Harithah, was killed in the Battle of Mu'tah.
The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) prepared an army led by Usamah ibn Zayd, who was young (may Allah be pleased with him). The Messenger (may Allah's prayer and peace be upon him) passed away while the army was on the outskirts of Madinah, intending to march against the Romans. When the Prophet (may Allah's prayer and peace be upon him) died and the people were in turmoil, and some of the Arabs apostatized, Abu Bakr resolved to execute this army. Some people, including 'Umar, came to him advising him not to send the army, but to keep it in Madinah so that no one would attack it. He said (may Allah be pleased with him): "By Allah, I will not lower the banner that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) had raised." He sent the army in this severe situation, and it resulted in a victory and a triumph.
Do you know what happened?
The apostate Arabs said, "These people have the ability and strength; they intend to invade the Romans." They were overcome with such terror and fear that it compelled them to restrain themselves from apostasy. Thus, it became a victory and a triumph.
