Reflection on the Creation of the Moon

The Shaykh : Allah has appointed the moon with phases so that we may know the number of years and the reckoning. You find it descending each night to a phase that differs from the other. So while you see it at sunset in the west, it is at sunset in the east. So at the full moon, where is it at sunset? At the full moon, meaning when fourteen days have passed, where is it at sunset? It is in the east, O our brothers. It is in the east. It also differs in its appearance in the west. At the crescent, you find it in the west, but it is small. At the middle of the month, you find it in the east at sunset, but it is large, filled with light. Who is able to fill this crescent with light? Allah (Mighty and Majestic). Who is able to appoint it with phases? Allah (Mighty and Majestic). So in the creation of the heavens, in their stars, sun, and moon. And in the heavens themselves are great signs. Allah (Blessed and Exalted is He) says: What is it? Meaning strong. Therefore He said: . Meaning with strength.
