Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : Then look at the moon; Allah has appointed for it stations, each night having its own station. It moves through the sun’s annual stations in one month. The sun moves through the moon’s twenty-eight stations in a full year, while the moon moves through them in one month. Then Allah, Mighty and Majestic, measures it:
And the moon - We have determined for it phases, until it returns [appearing] like the old date stalk. والقمر قدرناه منازل حتى عاد كالعرجون القديم
[Ya-Sin 36:39]
the old date-palm stalk. The old date-palm stalk is bent, becoming like a curved sword after it was full of light, then it returns until... Some scholars said: This is a parable for the life of man. When a person is first born, he is weak in his intellect, hearing, sight, perception, and physical strength. Then he grows gradually to the peak, and after that he begins to decline until he ends. And so it is with the moon. Who created this moon? Allah. Who placed it in its orbit? Allah. Who appointed its stations? It is Allah.
