The meaning of the saying of Allah the Exalted: "If We had sent down this Qur'an upon a mountain, you would have seen it humbled and broken to pieces out of fear of Allah."

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh :
If We had sent down this Qur'an upon a mountain, you would have seen it humbled and coming apart from fear of Allah
[Al-Hashr 59:21]
. If We had sent down this Qur'an, which Qur'an is it? I ask you, it is a near Qur'an. "This Qur'an" is a demonstrative noun used to point to something near.
If We had sent down this Qur'an
which is in your hands
upon a mountain على جبل
and it is the deaf, hard, and difficult one
you would have seen it لرأيته
meaning you would have seen the mountain
humbled and coming apart from fear of Allah
[Al-Hashr 59:21]
inert, breaking to pieces out of fear of Allah (Mighty and Majestic). And that is because of the greatness of what was sent down upon it, which is the Qur'an. As for if the mountain saw the Lord of Majesty and Glory, what would happen? It would be crushed. Therefore, when Musa (peace and blessings be upon him and his family, peace and blessings be upon him and his brothers among the messengers) said:
My Lord, show me [Yourself] that I may look at You.
[Al-A'raf 7:143]
due to his intense longing for Allah (Mighty and Majestic) and his love for Him. He said:
look at the mountain
[Al-A'raf 7:143]
. Read the verse, my brother. Yes, indeed. Stand up, may Allah bless you. Yes. Do you know? Is your heart present or distracted? Good.
