Is it permissible to slaughter a sheep that is not intended to be eaten due to illness or other reasons, since we have heard a statement that it should not be slaughtered? What is your guidance for us?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : Is it permissible to slaughter a sheep that is not intended to be eaten due to illness or other reasons, since we have heard a statement that it should not be slaughtered? Please guide us in light of this question?

The Shaykh : If the sheep belongs to a person and it is afflicted with an illness from which recovery is not expected, there is no harm in slaughtering it, because if he keeps it, he is burdened with providing for it, and providing for it is a waste with no benefit. However, if it does not belong to him, such as if he finds a sick sheep in the desert, he owes nothing regarding it; he leaves it alone, and when Allah wills for it to die, it dies.

The questioner : May Allah preserve you. The questioner says.
