Slaughter of a sheep or similar animal by a person for another

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The second question of Fatwa No. ( 1984 ):
Q2: The Arabs have the custom of reconciling with one another when necessary. Sometimes the one seeking reconciliation brings a sheep and does not enter through the door until it is slaughtered in the name of Allah. And sometimes, when the one seeking reconciliation comes with the sheep (the sacrificial offering), the one he is visiting takes it and says, "The sacrificial offering is forbidden," and keeps it for himself, while slaughtering for the one seeking reconciliation
another sheep as a sign of respect for him. Is it permissible to eat the meat of the two sheep, or one of them, or is it not permissible?

A2: When a person slaughters a sheep or similar animal for another, the intention may be to honor him by presenting the slaughtered animal as food for him, his companions, and those invited to eat with him, for example. This is permissible; indeed, authentic hadiths encourage it and exhort to it. It is established from the hadith of Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) that he said:
Whoever believes in Allah and the Last Day, then let him honor his guest.من كان يؤمن بالله واليوم الآخر فليكرم ضيفه
Jami` at-Tirmidhi 2500Sahih (Darussalam)
The hadith. And it is established from the hadith of Abu Shurayh al-Ka'bi from him (peace and blessings be upon him) that he said:
Whoever believes in Allah and the Last Day, should serve his guest generously. The guest's reward is: To provide him with a superior type of food for a night and a day and a guest is to be entertained with food for three days, and whatever is offered beyond that, is regarded as something given in charity. And it is not lawful for a guest to stay with his host for such a long period so as to put him in a critical position.من كان يؤمن بالله واليوم الآخر فليكرم ضيفه جائزته يوم وليلة، والضيافة ثلاثة أيام فما بعد ذلك فهو صدقة، ولا يحل له أن يأوي عنده حتى يحرجه
Sahih al-Bukhari 6135
. The intention behind the slaughter may also be merely to revere and honor him, whether the slaughtered animal is then presented as food for him to eat or not. That is not permissible; rather, it is shirk (associating partners with Allah) that warrants the curse, because it falls under the general category of slaughtering for other than Allah. It is established from 'Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) that he said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) told me four words:
Allah has cursed the one who slaughters for other than Allah, Allah has cursed the one who curses his parents, Allah has cursed the one who harbors an innovator, and Allah has cursed the one who alters the markers of the land.لعن الله من ذبح لغير الله، لعن الله من لعن والديه، لعن الله من آوى محدثًا، لعن الله من غير منار الأرض
. Accordingly, it is not permissible to eat
from this slaughtered animal, even if the one who slaughtered it mentioned the name of Allah over it; for actions are by intentions, and this was intended as presenting a sacrificial offering as a greeting to other than Allah, out of reverence and mere honor for him, not for him to eat from it. However, if he presented it alive and the one seeking favor took it and slaughtered it for the guests, or slaughtered another one for the guests, then it is permissible to eat from both; because it was not slaughtered to revere him. And success is from Allah. And may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
