Exegesis of the saying of Allah the Exalted: "And Allah presents an example to those who believe: the wife of Pharaoh, when she said, 'My Lord, build for me a house with You in Paradise and save me from Pharaoh and his deeds, and save me from the people who do wrong.'"

The Shaykh : Allah presented an example, by way of contrast, of two believing women. [At-Tahrim 66:11]. Pharaoh was the tyrannical, stubborn king of Egypt. His story is repeated in the Qur'an. This woman was upon a true religion. Her husband was a disbeliever. She was of no benefit to her husband in any way. She did not avail him of anything. In fact, her husband was among the companions of the Fire. meaning her husband, meaning the husband of Pharaoh [At-Tahrim 66:11]. She asked for three things [At-Tahrim 66:11]. The scholars said: She mentioned "with You" before saying "a house in Paradise" as an indication of the importance of the neighbor, until people said their famous saying: "Investigate the neighbor before the house". This is correct, because no matter how good a house is, if the neighbor is a bad neighbor, he will trouble his neighbor with him. The second supplication [At-Tahrim 66:11] means save me so that I do not do his deeds. And protect me, because matters are in the hand of Allah (Mighty and Majestic). The third supplication [At-Tahrim 66:11] is that they not be unleashed upon me and test me regarding my religion, because a person may be righteous in himself. But one of the wrongdoers may be unleashed upon him to test him regarding his religion.
