Explaining the danger of discord in hearts resulting from differences in understanding the texts.

The Shaykh : But the problem, O people, is that we find in this era, and before it, that some disagreement reaches the point of discord in the hearts. This is the evil and the calamity: that hearts differ, that hearts harbor grudges against others, that they pursue their faults, that they spread error and conceal the truth. There is no doubt that this is the calamity that Allah forbade in His saying: Therefore, it is obligatory upon us, when one of us sees an error in his brother, to contact him with love, loving what is good for him and loving to correct his error, in private and not in public, and to discuss it with him. And if Allah knows from them both good intention, He said the Exalted regarding the two spouses: This is a disagreement between a man and his wife, so what about the disagreement between the leaders of the Ummah, the scholars and students of knowledge? If the people gather and look at the cause of this disagreement and desire reconciliation, then Allah the Exalted will bring them together and guide them to the truth. But if the people take this disagreement as a cause for discord in hearts, separation, and pursuing mistakes, there is no doubt that this is contrary to what Allah commanded of agreement and uniting the word, and that it falls into what He forbade of division. And that will kill the Islamic renaissance that has now appeared, praise be to Allah, among the youth of this Ummah and others. This exists. A man came to me today from Africa and said that problems arose among the youth in matters related to creed, matters related to social issues, until the youth separated because of this disagreement, because they did not find a ruling to which they could refer to judge between them. This is no doubt a great danger to this Islamic renaissance. So it is obligatory to reconcile as much as we are able, until this disagreement disappears, love arises in the hearts, and this rust is removed from them, which will weaken them until they break. We ask Allah for safety and well-being.
