What is the ruling on ghusl for a disbeliever when he embraces Islam?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : The honorable Shaykh saysThe questioner : What is the ruling on the ghusl of a disbeliever when he embraces Islam? Please advise us, and may Allah reward you.

The Shaykh : When a disbeliever embraces Islam, the scholars differed on whether it is obligatory for him to perform ghusl, just as it is obligatory for him to be circumcised. The correct view is that it is obligatory for him to be circumcised, but it is not obligatory for him to perform ghusl, although ghusl is better. This is because many of the Companions believed, and the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) did not order them to perform ghusl. However, if he performs ghusl, that is better and purer. We ask Allah the Exalted to purify our hearts and your hearts, and our bodies and your bodies.
