The questioner : May Allah reward you. This questioner asks: Is the phrase: "O Most Merciful, O Most Generous" among the beautiful names of Allah?
The Shaykh : As for al-Mannan, it is among the beautiful names of Allah. As for al-Hannan, it has not been authentically established from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) that it is among the beautiful names of Allah. It was reported with a weak chain in the Musnad, the Musnad of Imam Ahmad, but it is not relied upon, because the names of Allah the Exalted must be established either in the Book or in the Sunnah. As for al-Mannan, it is established and there is no issue with it.
