The Shaykh :
but do not harm them, and rely upon Allah. And sufficient is Allah as Disposer of affairs. وَدَعْ أَذَاهُمْ وَتَوَكَّلْ عَلَى اللَّهِ وَكَفَى بِاللَّهِ وَكِيلًا
[Al-Ahzab 33:48]
.
So I say, and I say with Allah, and I hope that I am saying it in Allah. And with that, before we begin, I want my brothers who are experts in Arabic to explain to me why I said, "I say with Allah, and I hope that I am saying it in Allah." In it, the letter *ba* is affirmed, and in the letter *fi* I expressed hope. So what is the difference?
The student: The *ba* is for seeking help from Allah, as for...

The Shaykh : As for "I say with Allah," the intended meaning is seeking help. A person must seek help from Allah (Mighty and Majestic) in all his circumstances, due to the saying of the one who prays:
It is You we worship and You we ask for help. إياك نعبد وإياك نستعين
[Al-Fatihah 1:5]
. And due to the saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him):
and when you seek aid, seek Allah's aid إذا استعنت فاستعن بالله
Jami` at-Tirmidhi 2516Hasan (Darussalam)
. As for "I say in Allah," the meaning is that I hope my saying is in the Shari'ah of Allah, meaning in accordance with His law. A person's saying may conform to the Shari'ah, or it may not.
And the evidence for that is the saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him):
If a judge passes judgment and strives to reach the right conclusion and gets it right, he will have two rewards; if he strives to reach the right conclusion but gets it wrong, he will still have one reward. إذا حكم الحاكم فاجتهد فأصاب فله أجران وإن أخطأ فله أجر
Sunan an-Nasa'i 5381Sahih (Darussalam)
. So he made the ruling of the jurist who exercises independent legal reasoning have two states: hitting the mark, and what? And being wrong. So I hope that Allah (Glorified and Exalted is He) will make us all say with Allah and say in Allah.
