Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : Is it permissible for doctors to reject the words of the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him)?

The Shaykh : That they reject?

The questioner : That they reject.

The Shaykh : Yes.

The questioner : Is it permissible for doctors to reject the words of the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) regarding some of the treatments and medicines recommended by the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), citing this hadith:
You know best the affairs of your worldly life. أنتم أعلم بأمور دنياكم
?

The Shaykh : If a hadith is established from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) regarding any matter of religion or the world, or the healing of hearts or the healing of bodies, then it is obligatory for the believer to believe in it, and it is not permissible for him to contradict it with anything. This is because we know that what is authentic from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) is the truth, and that it is impossible for the truth to be contradicted, for truth does not contradict itself. Therefore, whoever rejects the established hadiths of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) with something mentioned as a cure, he must review himself, fearing that his heart may become deviated and he may perish.
It is obligatory to believe in what is authentic from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). It is said that what the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) reported regarding healing in certain things was not based on experience, such that we would say he might err or he might be correct, but it was based on revelation. For the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) is not a doctor of bodies who knows the properties of things; rather, he speaks by revelation from Allah. So if he said, for example, regarding the black seed:
for in it there is healing from every disease, except the Sam (death). إن فيها شفاء من كل داء إلا الموت
Sunan Ibn Majah 3448Sahih (Darussalam)
, it is obligatory for us to accept this. And if it happens that someone uses it and does not find healing, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
Except death. إلا الموت
, meaning except for that which is inevitable. So if Allah decrees for a person something in which no medicine is beneficial.
Honey contains healing for people in the Qur'an. Can a believer say: there is no healing in it? Never.
