In the hadith: (You are more knowledgeable about the affairs of your worldly life). So if the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said something regarding worldly affairs, such as medicine and the like, do we have the right to accept it or reject it according to what agrees with experience?

The student: Allah said... The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
You are more knowledgeable about the affairs of your worldly life. أنتم أدرى بأمور دنياكم

The Shaykh : What did he say?
The student:
You know best the affairs of your worldly life. أنتم أعلم بأمور دنياكم

The Shaykh : Yes
The student: In the matter of pollinating the date palms.

The Shaykh : Yes
The student: So if someone were to say: The issue of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), when he spoke about worldly affairs like medicine and the like, is that we have the right to accept it or reject it according to what agrees with experience.

The Shaykh : Yes
The student: Would this be a rejection of what the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, or not?

The Shaykh : If the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said something and it is not established that he retracted it during his lifetime, then his saying remains, and it is not permissible for us to contradict it, even if it is in a matter of medicine. For this reason, when he said
When a fly falls in the drink of one of you, he should fully dip it and then throw it away because there is disease in one of its wings and cure in the other إذا وقع الذباب في شراب أحدكم فليغمسه ثم لينزعه فإن في أحد جناحيه دواء وفي الآخر دواء
Bulugh al-Maram 14
or said
A cure. شفاء
, it is not permissible for us to say, "By Allah, this contradicts medicine." Rather, it is obligatory for us to say, "This is the truth," and then we know that medicine has not reached this... this knowledge. But if it was during his lifetime and he himself retracted it, then there is no harm.
I mean, for example, carpenters are more knowledgeable than us about carpentry, are they not? They are more knowledgeable than us about carpentry; they know how to work with wood, whereas we do not know. The engineers who make cars and those who make... and those who make watches are more knowledgeable about them than we are. So his saying:
You know best the affairs of your worldly life. أنتم أعلم بأمور دنياكم
means that what you make and deal with in a tangible way, you are more knowledgeable about it. But as for the rulings of our worldly life, they are with...? With Allah and His Messenger. They are more knowledgeable, they are more knowledgeable, they are the two who are more knowledgeable about that. Yes.
The student: Abu Bakr said... Is this correct?

The Shaykh : This is well-known among the exegetes and others, even the Shaykh al-Islam transmitted it in the introduction. Yes.
The student: The author said: "Not having any crookedness...

The Shaykh : How?
The student: Not having any crookedness...

The Shaykh : This was in yesterday's lesson.
The student: ...

The Shaykh : Yes, indeed
The student: You did not mention it.
