The questioner : All right, O Shaykh, did the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) prescribe treatments for certain diseases, such as sciatica, whose treatment is the fat of a sheep, or cupping, and such matters? Is this limited to his time (peace and blessings be upon him), or does this medicine continue to be valid?
The Shaykh : It continues until the Day of Resurrection; because it is part of Prophetic medicine, whose basis is either revelation from the sky, and there is no doubt in that, or it is based on human experience. This experience reached the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him), so he advised his Ummah with it, and he was approved for it from the sky. Therefore, we must consider it correct, whether it was revelation or independent reasoning based on Arab medical experiences. The Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) approved it, and consequently Allah approved His Prophet for it. So he advised his Ummah with it. This is not one of the worldly matters that some of the contemporary people today say are worldly, and they include it under the generality of his saying (peace and blessings be upon him) in the hadith of pollinating the palm trees: Is the answer clear?
The questioner : Yes, does that necessitate healing, O Shaykh?
The Shaykh : Does that necessitate healing?
The questioner: Yes.
The Shaykh : Perhaps, perhaps. This varies according to the degree of usage, the sincerity of the user, and the like; as he (peace be upon him) said:Sunan Ibn Majah 3062Hasan (Darussalam)
