What is the ruling on one who spends his merchandise with a false oath?
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : What is the ruling on one who spends his merchandise with a false oath? May Allah reward you with the best reward.
The Shaykh : One who sells his goods by swearing a false oath, meaning he seeks to deceive people and make them desire them, or to increase their price by swearing a false oath, is threatened with a severe warning: that Allah will not look at him on the Day of Resurrection, will not purify him, and he will have a painful punishment. He has committed a major sin among the major sins. Therefore, he must repent to Allah for what he has done and not return to it. He should know that the provision of Allah is not obtained through disobedience, for no soul will die until it has completed its provision and its term. Let him fear Allah and be honest in his requests. He should know that the forbidden means of obtaining provision removes the blessing from the provision and causes its owner to fall into sin. What he eats from its profits is unlawful, and what grows from the unlawful is such that the Fire is more deserving of it. He should know that a little lawful, good provision is better than much foul, forbidden provision. The door of repentance is open if a person repents and abandons this action, and gives in charity what Allah has made easy for him to give. Perhaps Allah will accept his repentance and guide him to a straight path.
The questioner : May Allah bless you.
