Question:
This is a questioner for the program who sent this message, containing a set of questions. Muhammad al-Tayyib al-Sudani says in this question: What is the ruling on one who swears by divorce in buying and selling, knowing that he is lying, in order to promote his goods?
May Allah reward you with good.
Answer:
The ruling is that he is a sinner, unjust to himself, and disobedient, whether he swears by divorce, or by an oath by Allah, or otherwise, and he is lying and has betrayed the trust. It is obligatory for him to repent to Allah from that, for lying is forbidden in buying and selling, even if he does not pronounce divorce, and even if he does not swear. If he confirms it with an oath and divorce, it becomes more severe in sin. We seek refuge in Allah.
It is obligatory for him to repent to Allah from that, and to beware of returning to this. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said regarding the two sellers:Sahih al-Bukhari 2079 And he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: We ask Allah for well-being. Yes.
