The questioner : Do you recite Surat al-Ikhlas alone in the last rak'ah of the witr prayer, or do you recite the two Mu'awwidhat with it? What is the ruling for one who recites Surat al-Ikhlas alone? Please inform us, may Allah reward you.

The Shaykh : If he limits himself to reciting Surat al-Ikhlas, that is sufficient. And if he sometimes recites with it:
Say, "I seek refuge in the Lord of daybreak قُلْ أَعُوذُ بِرَبِّ الْفَلَقِ
[Al-Falaq 113:1]
Say, "I seek refuge in the Lord of mankind, قُلْ أَعُوذُ بِرَبِّ النَّاسِ
[An-Nas 114:1]
, there is nothing wrong with that.

The questioner : May Allah bless you.
