The Virtue of Reciting Surat al-Ikhlas and Surat al-Kafirun

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
Our sister says: I have learned that whoever recites Surat al-Ikhlas three times and Surat al-Kafirun three times is as if he has recited the entire Qur'an. Is this correct?

Answer:
Yes, it is established from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) that
Say, "He is Allah, [who is] One,قُلْ هُوَ اللَّهُ أَحَدٌ
[al-Ikhlas:1] is equivalent to one-third of the Qur'an, equivalent to one-third of the Qur'an. So if he repeats it three times... it is a complete recitation. However, this does not suffice in place of reciting the Qur'an. It is prescribed for him to do both: it is prescribed for him to recite
Say, "He is Allah, [who is] One,قُلْ هُوَ اللَّهُ أَحَدٌ
[al-Ikhlas:1], and it is prescribed for him to recite the entire Qur'an from beginning to end, so that he may reflect upon it. He receives one good deed for every letter, and the good deed is multiplied tenfold. Therefore, it is prescribed for him to recite the Qur'an and to increase in its recitation. Along with this, he also recites
Say, "He is Allah, [who is] One,قُلْ هُوَ اللَّهُ أَحَدٌ
[al-Ikhlas:1], because it is a great surah, equivalent to one-third of the Qur'an. It is prescribed for the believing man and woman to reflect and understand, and to increase in recitation, with the aim of gaining knowledge and understanding, and knowing the rulings of the Shari'ah, and with the aim of the virtue and reward that Allah has ordained for recitation.

The presenter : May Allah reward you with good. As for al-Kafirun, may Allah preserve you?

The Shaykh
Say: O you disbelievers!قُلْ يَا أَيُّهَا الْكَافِرُونَ
[al-Kafirun:1] There is a report regarding it indicating that it is equivalent to one-quarter of the Qur'an, but I do not remember its authenticity right now... It will be facilitated in another session to clarify this matter, to clarify what concerns al-Kafirun: whether the hadith regarding it, that it is equivalent to one-quarter of the Qur'an, is established or not? And this will be, if Allah wills, in another session, if Allah wills.

The presenter : If Allah wills, and you are in good health, if Allah wills.
