The Shaykh :
The man has a cold in the head ثم ذكر النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم الرجل
Sunan Abi Dawud 5037Sahih (Al-Albani)
Listen to the descriptions.
who travels widely, his hair disheveled and covered with dust. He lifts his hand towards the sky (and thus makes the supplication): "O Lord, O Lord," يطيل السفر أشعث أغبر يمد يديه إلى السماء يا رب يا رب
Sahih Muslim 1015
How many descriptions are there?
The student: Four.

The Shaykh : How many descriptions are there?
The student: Four.

The Shaykh :
who travels widely, his hair disheveled and covered with dust. He lifts his hand towards the sky (and thus makes the supplication): "O Lord, O Lord," يطيل السفر أشعث أغبر يمد يديه إلى السماء يا رب يا رب
Sahih Muslim 1015
How many?
The student: Four.

The Shaykh : Four descriptions, each of which is a cause for the acceptance of supplication. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
Narrated Abu Hurairah: that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: "O you people! Indeed Allah is Tayyib (good) and he does not accept but what is good. And indeed Allah ordered the believers with what He ordered the Messengers. He (ﷺ) said: 'O you Messengers! Eat of the good things and do righteous deeds. Verily I am well acquainted with what you do (23:51).' And He said: 'O you who believe! Eat from the good things We have provided you (2:172).' He said: "And he mentioned a man: 'Who is undertaking a long journey, whose hair is dishevelled and he is covered with dust. He raises his hands to the heavens and says: "O Lord! O Lord!" Yet his food is from the unlawful, his drink is from the unlawful, his clothing is from the unlawful, and he was nourished by the unlawful. So how can that be accepted?'" ومطعمه حرام وملبسه حرام وغذي بالحرام فأنى يستجاب لذلك
Jami` at-Tirmidhi 2989Sahih (Darussalam)
He considered it unlikely that Allah would respond to him because he eats what is forbidden, because he eats what is forbidden. Look, traveling: he prolongs his journey, and prolonging the journey is one of the causes for the acceptance of supplication.
His hair is disheveled, he is covered in dust أشعث أغبر
Due to the hardship of the journey, he did not have the time to groom his hair because the journey is long and arduous.
He lifts his hand towards the sky يمد يديه إلى السماء
Sahih Muslim 1015
To Allah the Exalted, because Allah is in the sky. He stretches his hand in a state of humility to Allah the Exalted, and he calls upon Allah the Exalted by the attribute of Lordship, which encompasses ownership, sovereignty, and decree. And yet, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) considered it unlikely that Allah would respond to him because, what is it? He eats what is forbidden. So, we, my brothers, must maintain our jobs in obedience to Allah and His Messenger, to purify our food, and to fulfill our duties. As for it being obedience to Allah and His Messenger, that is because Allah the Exalted says:
O you who have believed, fulfill يا أيها الذين آمنوا أوفوا
[Al-Ma'idah 5:1]
With what?
the contracts بالعقود
And the job is a contract between you and the state. And He said:
And fulfill [every] commitment. Indeed, the commitment is ever [that about which one will be] questioned. وأوفوا بالعهد إن العهد كان مسؤولا
[Al-Isra 17:34]
And the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
Narrated Abu Hurairah: That the Prophet (ﷺ) said: "Fulfill the trust for the one who entrusted you, and do not cheat the one who cheated you." [Abu 'Eisa said:] This Hadith is Hasan Gharib. Some of the people of knowledge followed this Hadith, they said that when something belonging to a man is with another and he leaves (with it), then he has something that belongs to him, he may not withhold from him an equivalent to what the other took of his. Some of the people of knowledge among the Tabi'in allowed that. This is the view of Sufyan Ath-Thawri, he said: "If one man has some Dirham that belong to another, and the second has some Dinar belonging to the first, he may not withhold any in place of his Dirham, unless it so happens that he has some Dirham of his, then in that case he can withhold some of his Dirham equal to what he is owed by the first." أد الأمانة إلى من ائتمنك
Jami` at-Tirmidhi 1264Da'if (Darussalam)
And as for it being a purification of food, it is as you heard in the explanation of the example I mentioned. So I urge my brother employees to fulfill their duties, to be present at their designated work times, and not to leave until the time is over, unless there is a reason that requires leniency, in which case it is according to the regulations. We have another section of government work remaining. What is it?
Al-Maydani: Field work is when a specific task is assigned to a person to be completed in an hour, two hours, or more. This person is required to work, such as being told, "Your work is in this part of the city, in this neighborhood, to inspect the water drains, to inspect the telephones, to inspect such and such." This is his work. It is field work, in the morning, in the evening, at any time, as required by the regulations. He must also fulfill the duty he committed to before his government. Some people say, "The state's money is lawful. The state's money is lawful." And we must be frank, meaning in this place and elsewhere, that the state's money is lawful. Why did he say that? Because it is not the money of so-and-so. We say, if you say that, you have struck yourself with a calamity, because if it is not your money and not the money of so-and-so, it is the money of the entire nation, the whole nation. So you are now taking from the money of the entire nation. Therefore, a person must have thought and know that he was not created for this world; he was created for what? For the worship of Allah, by which one achieves success in the Hereafter. Allah the Exalted said:
(16) But you prefer the worldly life, (17) While the Hereafter is better and more enduring. بل تؤثرون الحياة الدنيا والآخرة خير وأبقى
[Al-A'la 87:16-17]
And when this verse was recited, I would like to point out a rhetorical point here. He said:
(16) But you prefer the worldly life, (17) While the Hereafter is better and more enduring. بل تؤثرون الحياة الدنيا والآخرة خير وأبقى
[Al-A'la 87:16-17]
And in another verse, He said:
the Hereafter is better for he who fears Allah والآخرة خير لمن اتقى
[An-Nisa 4:77]
And in a verse, Allah said to His Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him):
And the Hereafter is better for you than the first [life]. وللآخرة خير لك من الأولى
[Ad-Duhaa 93:4]
And the space occupied by the whip of one of you in Paradise is better than the world and what is on it. لموضع سوط أحدكم في الجنة خير من الدنيا وما فيها
Jami` at-Tirmidhi 1664Sahih (Darussalam)
What is the whip of one of you? What is the role of the whip, brother? You don't know the whip? Who knows? Come on, yes, how long is it?
The student: ... .

The Shaykh : Yes, but its length is an arm's length or more, a meter. Let's say a meter. Good, it is better than this world and all that is in it, and it is the place of a whip. So the Hereafter is better than this world, considering the Hereafter itself, regardless of so-and-so or so-and-so. As for the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), he specified it and said to him:
And the Hereafter is better for you than the first [life]. وللآخرة خير لك من الأولى
[Ad-Duhaa 93:4]
And for this reason, when death approached him (peace and blessings be upon him), he said:
O Allah! (Please let me be) with the highest companion. اللهم في الرفيق الأعلى
Sahih al-Bukhari 4437
No one other than the Messenger is bound by a description, so it was said:
And the Hereafter is better for he who fears Allah. والآخرة خير لمن اتقى
And for this reason, a person is given glad tidings when he is on his deathbed, if he is among the righteous, he is given glad tidings of Paradise, so he rejoices and is pleased with it, and his soul submits to leaving, until it is as if a hair is pulled from dough. But the disbeliever, may Allah protect us from that, when he is given tidings of anger, his soul scatters in his body and refuses to leave until the angels pull it out, as a thorn is pulled out. I forgot the sentence, but the noble verse is:
Discharge your souls! Today you will be awarded the punishment of [extreme] humiliation أخرجوا أنفسكم اليوم إنما تجزون عذاب الهون
[Al-An'am 6:93]
So, my brother, do not think that you were created in this world for this world. You were created in this world for the worship of Allah, by which there is happiness in this world and the Hereafter. I ask Allah, Blessed and Exalted is He, to make me and you among the successful in this world and the Hereafter, and to make the future of our affairs better than the past. Indeed, He is capable of all things. Yes, yes, now the time is up. Do you want us to take two or three questions? Yes, you have no sleep? Yes, what does he say?
The student: ... .

The Shaykh : ...And upon you be peace and the mercy of Allah.
The student: ... .

The Shaykh : Good, good, rest. May Allah send prayers and peace upon Muhammad.
