Allah the Exalted says: "And most of them do not believe in Allah except while they are associating partners with Allah."

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : May Allah reward you with good. The questioner, the honorable Shaykh, says: Allah the Exalted says in Surat Yusuf:
And most of them believe not in Allah except while they associate others with Him. وما يؤمن أكثرهم بالله إلا وهم مشركون
[Yusuf 12:106]
It is known that faith consists of the oneness of lordship, the oneness of worship, and the oneness of the names and attributes... [Note: The Arabic text here appears to contain a transcription error or fragment, as it repeats the premise and asks for guidance on affirming faith and shirk despite the negation implied by "negates faith" in the source text provided]. Mujahid interpreted the verse by stating that the shirk is major shirk in the oneness of worship. How do you direct us to understand the verse in a way that affirms both faith and shirk?

The Shaykh : This has been discussed previously in a past session, and we said that the shirk referred to here is minor shirk, which does not contradict faith. What contradicts faith is major shirk. Yes?
