Does interrupting the intention in an act of worship, such as wudu', have an effect?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : Shaykh, may Allah reward you. Regarding interrupting the intention in an act of worship, for example, we are at the university and one person comes to perform wudu', then the bell rings, and he intends to break his wudu'. Then he finds out that the teacher is not preparing, so he returns to the wudu'. What is the ruling?

The Shaykh : Whenever one intends to break an act of worship, such as wudu' or any other, during its performance, it becomes invalid. If he then wishes to resume, he must start over from the beginning. So, if he begins wudu' and then the bell rings, as you asked, and he intends to break the wudu', but then he decides to complete it because the teacher is delayed, he must restart the wudu' from the beginning. This is based on the saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him):
The reward of deeds depends upon the intentions and every person will get the reward according to what he has intended. إنما الأعمال بالنيات وإنما لكل امرئ ما نوى
Sahih al-Bukhari 1
And since he intended to break it, it is broken.
