Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
, O Shaykh: A man works for us in al-Qassim and has been absent from his family for three years. His wife has called him more than three times saying: "Come back," and he means...

The Shaykh : ...he refuses.

The questioner : No, no, he refuses, but he says: "If I return to my family, I have creditors there, and I might be thrown into prison before I can go to my family." He says: "What is the ruling of the Shari'ah in this?"

The Shaykh : This is a man who is absent from his wife because of the debt upon him, and he fears that if he returns to his country, he will be seized and imprisoned.

The questioner : Yes.

The Shaykh : And his wife is demanding that he return. We say: He must return to his wife, or bring her to his location, or divorce her.

The questioner : And if he asks her for permission?

The Shaykh : And if he asks her for permission and she grants it, then the right is hers. If he asks her for permission and she grants it, then the right is hers. Yes.
