The ruling on a man being absent from his wife for a long period

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
A man works for us in al-Qassim, and he has been away from his family for three years. His wife calls him more than three times and says to him: Come back.

And he says: If I return to my family, I have creditors there, and I might be thrown in prison before I go to my family. What is the ruling of the Shari'ah in this? The Shaykh: You mean: this man is absent from his wife because of the debt he owes, and he fears that if he returns to his country, he will be detained and imprisoned, and his wife is demanding that he return. So we say: He must return to his wife, or bring her to his location, or divorce her.

The questioner: And if he asks her for permission? The Shaykh: And if he asks her for permission and she grants it, then the right is hers.
