Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : Peace be upon you and Allah's mercy and blessings, Your Eminence.

The Shaykh : What did you say before this? Did you greet?

The questioner : Yes.

The Shaykh : Peace be upon you, and Allah’s mercy and blessings.

The questioner : If a farmer sells the date palm fruit and forgets to pay the zakah, should he buy fruit for the zakah or pay it in cash, and what is the nisab for zakah?

The Shaykh : If a person sells the fruit of his date palms or his crops, he pays the zakah from its value, because this is closer to justice and more beneficial for the poor in our time. For example, if he sells it for ten thousand riyals, he pays half of the tenth. He pays half of the tenth. I mean: if it is ten thousand riyals, what is half of the tenth?
Five hundred riyals.
