If the imam prolongs the first tashahhud and the ma'mum has finished the tashahhud, what does he do with the remaining time?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : In the name of Allah.
If the imam prolongs his sitting in the first tashahhud and the ma'mum has finished reciting the first tashahhud, what does he do with the rest of the time?

The Shaykh : If the imam prolongs the first tashahhud, continue in the tashahhud; even if you complete it, there is no blame on you. Likewise, if you catch up with him in the last two rak'ahs, he will prolong the tashahhud, because the tashahhud is the second for him and the first for you, so complete the tashahhud and there is no blame on you.

The questioner : But what if the time passes?

The Shaykh : If the time passes, continue and complete the tashahhud, send blessings upon the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), and send blessings upon the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), and seek refuge in Allah from the punishment of Hellfire and from the punishment of the grave, or supplicate to Allah with whatever you wish.
