What is the meaning of the saying of Allah the Exalted: [And those who are fearful of the punishment of their Lord]?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : What is the intended meaning of the statement of Allah:
And those who are fearful of the punishment of their Lord - وَالَّذِينَ هُمْ مِنْ عَذَابِ رَبِّهِمْ مُشْفِقُونَ
[Al-Ma'arij 70:27]
?

The Shaykh : The intended meaning is that these people are described with two things: faith and fear of the punishment of Allah. "Ishfaq" (fear) means fear, and the fact that they fear it indicates that they believed in it. In this is praise for those who feared the punishment of Allah, Mighty and Majestic, because whoever fears something avoids it. So if they fear the punishment of Allah, they must avoid the causes of punishment.
