Exegesis of the saying of Allah the Exalted: ((But it is those who do not believe in the Hereafter who are in the punishment and the farthest astray))

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Allah the Exalted said, negating that,
Rather, they who do not believe in the Hereafter
[Saba 34:8]
which includes the Resurrection and the punishment
in the punishment and [are in] extreme error.
[Saba 34:8]
in the punishment في العذاب
in it
and the farthest astray والضلال البعيد
What comes after that? From the truth in this world. His saying
Rather بل
This is for comprehension. Is it the negation of the preceding or a transition? It is negation. The meaning of the negating transition is that what comes before "bal" (but) is false, and the meaning of the transitional transition is that what comes before is a stage from which one moved to the next stage without negating it. So here
Rather بل
is for the negating transition, meaning that Allah negated these two categories between which these disbelievers placed the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). That is, "but he is not in doubt, and there is no deficiency in him," but rather these are the ones who do not believe, and they are in the punishment and the farthest astray, and we cannot leave them. An example of the transitional transition is His saying, the Exalted,
Rather, their knowledge is arrested concerning the Hereafter. Rather, they are in doubt about it. Rather, they are, concerning it, blind.
[Surat al-Naml: 66]. So this is transitional, meaning that first, after their knowledge of the Hereafter, then they doubted it, and then after that they were blind to it, may Allah protect us. These are their transitional states. Allah said
Rather, they who do not believe in the Hereafter
[Saba 34:8]
meaning they do not believe in it and do not acknowledge it.
The student : ......?

The Shaykh : It may sometimes come like
Or they increase
.
He said
Rather, they who do not believe in the Hereafter
[Saba 34:8]
meaning they do not believe in its existence and do not believe in what happens in it. It has passed us that the Last Day includes everything the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) informed about that occurs after death. So everything the Messenger informed about that occurs after death, such as the trial of the grave, its bliss, and its punishment, is included in the Hereafter. He said "which includes the Resurrection and the punishment"
in the punishment في العذاب
in it
and the farthest astray والضلال البعيد
meaning the truth in this world. The author, may Allah have mercy on him, qualified the absolute in both places. Here Allah said
in the punishment في العذاب
and the author said: "in the Hereafter" and he said
and the farthest astray والضلال البعيد
and said: "in this world". The most correct is that the verse is absolute, so they are in the punishment in this world and in the Hereafter. As for the punishment of the Hereafter, it is apparent. As for the punishment of this world, it is the distress and tightness in their hearts, and what also befalls them of punishment from Allah, Mighty and Majestic, as He said, the Exalted,
So each We seized for his sin; and among them were those upon whom We sent a storm of stones, and among them were those who were seized by the blast [from the sky], and among them were those whom We caused the earth to swallow, and among them were those whom We drowned
[Surat al-'Ankabut: 40]. And likewise the punishment that is carried out by the hands of the messengers, such as the punishment that befalls them through defeats, for this is from the punishment of this world. As for in the Hereafter, it is apparent. So the punishment includes this world and the Hereafter, and qualifying it with the Hereafter is questionable. Rather, it is obligatory upon us not to qualify anything that Allah made absolute except with evidence from the Book of Allah or the Sunnah of His Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) or consensus. His saying
far astray الضلال البعيد
he says: "in this world" so they are in far astrayness from the truth, and they are also in astrayness in the Hereafter, for they are not guided to the path by which one who crosses it is saved from the Fire, but they are guided to the path of the blazing Fire, so they are astray from the path by which there is salvation. Allah the Exalted said
(22) [The angels will be ordered], "Gather those who committed wrong, their kinds, and what they used to worship (23) Other than Allah, and guide them to the path of Hellfire احْشُرُوا الَّذِينَ ظَلَمُوا وَأَزْوَاجَهُمْ وَمَا كَانُوا يَعْبُدُونَ * مِنْ دُونِ اللَّهِ فَاهْدُوهُمْ إِلَى صِرَاطِ الْجَحِيمِ
[Surat al-Saffat 22:23]. And He said, Exalted is He, about the believers
Their light will proceed before them and on their right
[Surat al-Tahrim: 8]. So that indicates that astrayness, as it is in this world, is also in the Hereafter. So it is better to leave the text in its generality for this world and the Hereafter.
