Some mu'adhdhins delay the adhan by one or two minutes most of the time and do not adhere to the Umm al-Qura calendar, saying they add this as a precaution; what is the validity of this?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : Peace be upon you and Allah's mercy.

The Shaykh : And upon you be peace and the mercy of Allah.

The questioner : It is observed that some mu'adhdhins delay the adhan by one to two minutes most of the time, especially for Fajr and Maghrib. If you ask them why they do not adhere to the Umm al-Qura calendar, they say: "We add this as a precaution." Is their action correct, O Shaykh?

The Shaykh : There is no harm in being cautious by one or two minutes, especially for Fajr. The Umm al-Qura calendar advances Fajr by five minutes. Therefore, one must be careful in this matter; a person should wait five minutes before praying. As for the mu'adhdhins, as you know, some call to prayer according to the Umm al-Qura timing, some advance it, and some delay it significantly.
