Explanation of the Book of Ablution, Ghusl, Menstruation, and Tayammum-10a

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The reciter: Muhammad ibn Bashshar narrated to us, saying: Mu'adh ibn Hisham narrated to us, saying: My father narrated to me from Qatadah, saying: Anas ibn Malik narrated to us, saying:
The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) would visit his wives in one hour of the night or day, and they were eleven. He said: I said to Anas: Did he have the strength for it? He said: We used to say that he was given the strength of thirty.
. And Sa'id narrated from Qatadah:
That Anas told them it was nine wives. أن أنسا حدثهم تسع نسوة
.

The Shaykh : And this is the correct view, because the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) did not have eleven women gathered with him at one time. It is true that he married eleven, but Khadijah and Zaynab bint Khuzaymah died before he did, and he (peace and blessings be upon him) died leaving nine wives. As for
We used to say that he was given the strength of thirty. كنا نتحدث أنه أعطي قوة ثلاثين
Sunan al-Bayhaqi 10:748
, it appears that they do not say this based on guesswork or estimation, but rather based on knowledge from the Sunnah. The wisdom is that Allah gave His Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) the strength of thirty because He made women beloved to him. If women are made beloved to him and he does not have the capacity or strength, his powers would be exhausted and he would weaken, so Allah (Mighty and Majestic) gave him the strength of thirty. If it is asked, what is the wisdom in Allah making women beloved to him? We say that there are great benefits in that. For as the number of the Messenger's (peace and blessings be upon him) wives increased, his knowledge spread, and indeed his Sunnah spread, especially the hidden Sunnah that only occurs in the home. And as his wives increased, he had more in-laws. It is known that in-laws are like relatives in that a person respects them, and they support and assist him, and the like. Therefore, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was given this strength and it was permitted for him to marry as many women as he wished, until the word of Allah the Exalted was revealed:
Not lawful to you, [O Muhammad], are [any additional] women after [this], nor [is it] for you to exchange them for [other] wives, even if their beauty were to please you, except what your right hand possesses لا يحل لك النساء من بعد ولا أن تبدل بهن من أزواج ولو أعجبك حسنهن إلا ما ملكت يمينك
[Al-Ahzab 33:52]
. The point of this hadith is that it is permissible for a man to have intercourse and repeat intercourse without ghusl or wudu', as evidenced by the fact that the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) used to repeat that even with his wives. If someone asks, is it permissible for a man who has more than one wife to visit them all in one hour? The answer is yes, there is no harm, unless they refuse and say that each woman has her day, and he should not come to the other woman. In that case, he must adhere to what is obligatory. But if they permit him to do so, there is no harm in his having intercourse with each of them on the other's day.
