The Shaykh : No, this is not valid. Let the bride be with the women and the men with the men.

The questioner : I mean, is it permissible?

The Shaykh : I say it is obligatory for the bride to be with the women.

The questioner : Okay, so...

The Shaykh : ...is the beating of the hand drum by men on the wedding night like that of the women, or is it forbidden?
It is known among the jurists that the recommended practice (sunnah) is for women only, not for men. The author of al-Furu' mentioned what Imam Ahmad narrated, that it is the same, meaning for men and women. But we do not issue a ruling of permissibility for men, out of fear of the danger I mentioned, which is that, for example, women mix with men, or fitnah occurs between the men and the young men. Therefore, we do not issue a ruling of permissibility.
