The reciter: Abdullah ibn Yusuf narrated to us, saying: Al-Layth narrated to us, saying: Sa'id ibn Abi Sa'id narrated to us that he heard Abu Hurayrah say:
The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) sent a cavalry unit toward Najd, and they came back with a man from Banu Hanifah named Thumamah ibn Uthal. They tied him to one of the pillars of the mosque. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) came out to him and said, "Release Thumamah." He went to some palm trees near the mosque, performed ghusl, then entered the mosque and said, "I bear witness that there is no god but Allah and that Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah."
