Continuation of the explanation of the hadith: (Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) said

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh :
So the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was pleased with that and ordered him to go to his 'Umrah (lesser pilgrimage). So he went and performed 'Umrah, and entered Makkah reciting the talbiyah other than the talbiyah of the polytheists.
, the talbiyah of the polytheists, saying: Labbaik Allahumma labbaik, labbaik la sharika laka labbaik, illa sharikan huwa laka tamlikuhu wa ma malak. He entered with the pure talbiyah of tawhid (the oneness of Allah)
So the Quraysh objected to him and said to him: You have apostatized, you have apostatized. He said: No, I have become a Muslim with Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him). And by Allah, no grain of wheat will come to you from al-Yamamah except by the permission of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). When he said this, and they were intending to kill him, some of them said to others: Do not kill him, he is withholding food from us.
because Makkah is not a place of agriculture
So they left him alone, and the wheat was withheld from them. So the Quraysh sent to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) to appeal to him, saying to him: You maintain family ties and you earn what is not possessed.
and they mentioned of his (peace and blessings be upon him) attributes
And they informed him of what Thumamah ibn Athal had said. So the Prophet (may Allah send prayers and blessings upon him and his family) interceded with Thumamah to send them the wheat.
maintaining family ties and honoring the House, even though these people were polytheists. This is the story of Thumamah ibn Athal, and in it is a lesson, which is that showing mercy may be better than taking revenge. For if the Prophet (may Allah send prayers and blessings upon him and his family) had killed him, for what would he have killed him?
The student: For disbelief.

The Shaykh : For disbelief, and he did not gain this great benefit: his declaration in Makkah, whose people are polytheists, that he is a follower of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him). And it did not happen that they would intercede for the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), seeking his intercession with Thumamah to send them wheat.
And in it is also evidence that it is permissible for the imam to show mercy to a prisoner without a ransom, because the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) showed him mercy. Now, let us return to the author's objective in the context of this hadith.
