The reciter: Muhammad ibn al-Muthanna narrated to us, Abu Bakr al-Hanafi narrated to us, 'Abd al-Hamid ibn Ja'far narrated to me, Sa'id ibn Abi Sa'id al-Maqburi narrated to me that he heard Abu Hurayrah say:
It was narrated from Sa'eed bin Abi Sa'eed that he heard Abu Hurairah say: "The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) sent some horsemen toward Najd, and they brought back a man from Banu Hanifah who was called Thumamah bin Uthal, the chief of the people of Al-Yamamah. Then he was tied to one of the pillars of the Masjid."
بَعَثَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ خَيْلًا لَهُ نَحْوَ أَرْضِ نَجْدٍ، فَجَاءَتْ بِرَجُلٍ يُقَالُ لَهُ : ثُمَامَةُ بْنُ أُثَالٍ الْحَنَفِيُّ سَيِّدُ أَهْلِ الْيَمَامَةِ Sunan an-Nasa'i 712Sahih (Darussalam), and he related the hadith in the same manner as al-Layth's hadith, except that he said:
If you should kill me, you would kill a person who has already killed somebody
إِنْ تَقْتُلْنِي تَقْتُلْ ذَا دَمٍ Sahih al-Bukhari 4372.
